Interview: Sangu Mandanna

Hello my dear shatterings! Today we have here on Sangu Mandanna, the one who wrote THE LOST GIRL.

Description of the book

Eva’s life is not her own. She is a creation, an abomination—an echo. Made by the Weavers as a copy of someone else, she is expected to replace a girl named Amarra, her “other”, if she ever died. Eva studies what Amarra does, what she eats, what it’s like to kiss her boyfriend, Ray. So when Amarra is killed in a car crash, Eva should be ready.

But fifteen years of studying never prepared her for this.

Now she must abandon everything she’s ever known—the guardians who raised her, the boy she’s forbidden to love—to move to India and convince the world that Amarra is still alive.

1) Tell me something about you and your book “ The Lost Girl “.

I'm a fairly young author. I read more books than I probably should, considering I have a baby I sometimes ignore (only for a short while!) in favour of a really good book! THE LOST GIRL is my first novel, and it's about love, loss and one girl's quest for her own identity. It tells the story of Eva, a teenage copy of a real girl named Amarra; Eva was created by Weavers at a place called the Loom and exists only to replace her Amarra when she dies.

2) How and why have you started to write? Were there something or someone that gave you an impulse?





I don't think anyone influenced my love of writing, except maybe the authors of my favourite books, who made reading (and therefore writing) such a pleasure. I wrote my first story at the age of four, and it was only a page long, but it started me off and I've never looked back. I love doing it. I've always loved doing it and this is what I've always wanted to do for a living, so it's very exciting to me that I now do!

3) Is that something you have in common with the main character?






Eva is very creative, so we do have that in common, but she's more of an artist than a writer. Though I think we're both equally passionate about creating beautiful things.

4) While youre writing, have you discovered a character that you where developing feelings of love for? And was there a character that gave you headaches?






I have to admit I love all of my characters! They always feel like real people to me and I always grow very attached to them (even to the characters in manuscripts that never got anywhere). In THE LOST GIRL, my favourite character is Matthew. He's so amazingly complicated and frustrating. And, oddly, he's also the one who gives me the most headaches. He's a complete nuisance to write, because he's so unpredictable, but that makes him a joy too.
5) How have you done your research for this novel?







Most of the background in the novel (the places, the cultures, the lifestyles) comes from my own experience and knowledge of places I know, so I suppose trawling through memories was where I did most of my research. But I also read FRANKENSTEIN several times.








6) In the end, would you like say some words to your fans from Romania?





I'd like to thank you all. It's always so amazing to me that people all over the world write to me about this book, and I've had so much support and enthusiasm from Romania, so I really do appreciate that.

Viaţa Evei nu-i aparţine. Ea este o creaţie, un monstru- un eşec. Creată de Weavers ca o copie a altcuiva, ea se aşteaptă să o înlocuiască pe o fată numită Amarra, „ cealaltă” , dacă ar muri vreodată. Eva studiază ceea ce Amarra face, ceea ce mănâncă, cum ar fi să-i sărute iubitul, pe Ray. Deci când Amarra moare într-un accident de maşină, Eva ar trebui să fie gata.

Dar 15 ani de studiu, niciodată nu te pregătesc pentru aşa ceva.

Acum, ea trebuie să abandoneze tot ceea ce ştia până acum-- pe gardianul care a creat-o, pe băiatul de care îi este interzis să se îndrăgostească-- pentru a se muta în India unde trebuie să convingă lumea că Amarra este în viaţă.

1) Spune-mi ceva despre tine şi cartea ta “ The Lost Girl “.

Sunt o tânără autoare justă. Am citit mai multe cărţi decât ar fi trebuit, luând în considerare faptul că am un copil mic. Câteodată îl ignor ( doar pentru o foarte scurtă perioadă de timp! ) în favoarea unei cărţi cu adevărat bună! THE LOST GIRL este prima mea poveste şi este despre dragoste, pierdere şi o fată care îşi caută identitatea. Această carte spune povestea Evei, copia unei adolescente numită Amarra; Eva a fost creată de Weavers într-un loc numit Loom, iar aceasta existând doar pentru a o înlocuii pe Amarra când aceasta va muri.

2) Cum şi când ai început să scrii? A existat cineva sau ceva, care te-a impulsionat?

Nu cred că cineva mi-a influenţat scrisul, cu excepţia autoriilor cărţilor mele preferate, care au făcut pentru mine cititul ( şi de asemenea scrisul ) aşa o plăcere. Prima poveste am scris-o la vârsta de 4 ani şi avea doar o pagină, dar aşa m-am pornit şi nu m-am mai putut opri. Iubesc să fac asta. Mereu am iubit să fac asta şi asta este ceea ce mi-am dorit să fac pentru a-mi câştiga existenţa, deci este foarte captivant pentru mine că pot face asta acum!

3) Este ceva ce ai în comun cu personajul principal?

Eva este foarte creativă, deci avem ceva în comun, dar ea este mai mult o artistă decât o scriitoare. Totuşi cred că amândouă suntem în aceeaşi măsură pasionate de a crea lucruri frumoase.

4) În cursul scrierii romanului, ţi-ai dat seama că te ataşezi mai mult de un anume personaj? Şi invers, ai descoperit că vreunul vă irită?


Trebuie să recunosc că îmi iubesc toate personajele! Pentru mine au fost mereu persoane reale şi am crescut întotdeauna ataşată de ele ( chiar şi de personajele din manuscrisele mele, cu care nu am ajuns nicăieri ). În THE LOST GIRL, personajul meu favorit este Matthew. Este atât de uimitor de complicat şi frustrant. Şi ciudat, el este şi cel care mă irită cel mai tare. Este o bătaie de cap să scrii despre el, pentru că este atât de imprevizibil, dar asta îl face şi o bucurie de asemenea.



5) Cum aţi făcut cercetarea pentru această poveste?

Mult din fundalul poveştii ( locurile, cultura, modul de viaţă ) vin din propria mea experienţă şi cunoştinţă a locurilor, pe care le cunosc, deci presupun că o călătorie printre amintiri a fost cercetarea, pe care am făcut-o în mare parte. Dar am mai citit şi FRANKENSTEIN de mai multe ori.



6) În final, ai dori să le spui câteva cuvinte fanilor dumneavoastră din România?

Vreau să vă mulţumesc tuturor. Este mereu o bucurie ca persoanele din toată lumea să-mi scrie despre această carte şi am avut atâta support şi entuziasm din România, încât chiar apreciez asta.

1) How and why have you started to write? Were there something or someone that gave you an impulse?




A) As long as I can remember, I've always written - stories, journals... I think it was after reading C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe when I realized I really wanted to write fiction.




2) Tell me something about the series The Fade and about the first book in this series, Slumber.




A) The Fade is a two book series and it's set in a fantasy world called Phaedra. Slumber follows the story of Rogan, a handmaiden to the Princess. She's a girl with a tragic past who finds herself in the position of having to save her best friend (the princess) from a sleeping disease that will not only destroy her but have an affect on their entire world. On her journey to save her friend, Rogan finds herself in a complicated romantic entanglement with Wolfe - the son of the man who destroyed her family. Slumber is very much a romance, but there is plenty of adventure, thrills and magic along the way.




3) Is that something you have in common with the main character Rogan?




A) I wish I had Wolfe in common with her ;)




4) While youre writing, have you discovered a character that you where developing feelings of love for? And was there a character that gave you headaches?




A) While writing Slumber I absolutely loved writing L's character. L is the kind of girl I think we all wished we had as a best friend. She's fiesty, blunt, loyal and strong, and deep down she has a big heart. The character that gave me the most headache was Rogan herself. I love her, but she's so stubborn! Even I wanted to shake her out of her stubborness! :p




5) How have you did the reasearch for this book?




A) Slumber is the only book I've written that didn't require any research since it's set in a world based entirely from my imagination. I had a lot of fun writing this book for that reason alone. :)




6) Whom do you think that fits better as Rogan, Wolfe Stovia and Captain of the Guard from the actresses and actors known worldwide?




A) She's a little too old to play Rogan (she's 26, like me!) but I love Kat Dennings from Two Broke Girls - she's exactly how I imagine Rogan to be. As for Wolfe... I'll need to get back to you on that one... it's too difficult!




7) In the end, would you like say some words to your fans from Romania?




A) You guys rock!




Romanian Version:

O frumoasă adormită, poate fi şi o domnişoară în primejdie, dar cavalerul ei alb cine ar fi? Ea sigur că nu ar putea fi un cavaler alb. Cavalerul ei alb, ei bine ... nimeni altul decât duşmanul ei de moarte...

Când Haydyn cade victimă a misterioasei boli a somnului, lumea din Phaedra este aruncată în haos.

Rogan, cea mai bună prietenă a lui Haydyn şi slujnică, este singura care o poate salva. Împreună cu Garda Regală şi tânărul lor căpitan, Wolfe Stovia, Rogan trebuie să pornească de-a lungul provinciei pentru a găsi planta somnului, care o va trezi din somnul ei de moarte pe Haydyn.

Copleşită pe toate părţile de către haos, Rogan se prăbuşeşte într-o lume întunecată de răpiri, atingeri, trădare şi dragoste ... o călătorie, care o va schimba pentru totdeauna, şi o călătorie care va schimba lumea pentru totdeauna, dacă ea nu va găsi leacul.

1) Cum şi când ai început să scrii? A existat cineva sau ceva, care te-a impulsionat?

Din câte îmi amintesc, întotdeauna am scrirs- poveşti, jurnale…cred că a fost după ce am citit C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe când am realizat că vreau să scriu cu adevărat ficţiune.

2) Spune-mi ceva despre seria The Fade şi despre prima carte din această serie, Slumber.

The Fade este o serie formată din două cărţi şi acţiunea se petrece într-o lume imaginară numită Phaedra. Slumber urmăreşte povestea lui Rogan, slujnica Prinţesei. Ea este o fată cu un trecut tragic, dar care se află în poziţia de a trebui să-şi salveze cea mai bună prietenă ( prinţesa ) de la o boală a somnului, care nu o distruge doar pe ea ci afectează întreaga lume. În călătoria, pe care o face pentru a-şi salva prietena Rogan se găseşte prinsă într-o poveste de dragoste complicată alături de Wolfe- băiatul celui care i-a distrus familia. Slumber este mai mult o poveste romantică, dar cu o mulţime de aventuri, răsturnări de situaţie şi magie pe parcursul drumului.

3) Este ceva ce ai în comun cu personajul principal Rogan?

Mi-aş dori să-l am pe Wolfe în comun cu ea ;)

4) În cursul scrierii romanului, ţi-ai dat seama că te ataşezi mai mult de un anume personaj? Şi invers, ai descoperit că vreunul vă irită?

În timp ce scriam Slumber, am iubit să lucrez cu toate personajele lui L. L este genul de fată, pe care ne-am dori-o cu toţii ca prietenă bună. Ea este sinceră, loială şi puternică şi undeva acolo are o inimă mare. Personajul, care m-a iritat a fost chiar Rogan. O iubesc, dar este atât de încăpăţânată!  Chiar am vrut să o scap puţin de încăpăţânarea asta!:P

5) Cum aţi făcut cercetarea pentru această carte?

Slumber este singura carte, pentru care nu a trebuit să fac cercetări, întrucât povestea este conturată într-o lume bazată în întregime pe imaginaţia mea. M-am distrat foarte mult să scriu această carte din acest motiv. :)

6) Cine crezi că s-ar potrivi mai bine în rolurile lui Rogan şi Wolfe dintre actriţele şi actorii din afară?

Este puţin cam matură pentru a o juca pe Rogan ( ea are 26 de ani, ca mine! ), dar o iubesc pe Kat Dennings din Two Broke Girls- ea este exact aşa cum mi-o închipui eu pe Rogan. Cât despre Wolfe…trebuie să mă mai gândesc la asta…este prea dificil!

7) În final, ai dori să le spui câteva cuvinte fanilor dumneavoastră din România?

Sunteţi cei mai tari!

1) How and why have you started to write? Were there something or someone that gave you an impulse? I've always wanted to be a writer, but fear of failure kept me from trying. Then came the birth of my second son, who suffered from colic--often crying for 16 hours a day as a newborn. I turned to writing as a stress relief to keep my sanity intact. I still use it as a stress relief. 2) Tell me something about your sequel book Witch Born. Witch Born is the sequel to Witch Song. Senna soon learns that Haven is not the sanctuary it's purported to be. Danger is closing in, and no one is sure of the source. She will have to risk everything she's gained to save the Witches from danger both abroad and within. 3) While youre writing, have you discovered a character that you where developing feelings of love for? And was there a character that gave you headaches? Joshen is adorable. I wish he was real. We'd hang out, go to restaurants and ride horses. Senna was sometimes a pain. She's reticent and struggles with her self esteem--especially in the first book. It's hard to write a character like that when they have to move the story. Though I wrote her that way to give young girls with the same issues someone to relate too. 4) How have you done your research for this novel? Yes. I had to research sailing ships, cannons, muskets, jungles, and many other little aspects. 5) Is there a book that inspired your writings? I remember reading Eragon and thinking, "If this kid can write and publish a book, so can I." 6) In the end, would you like say some words to your fans from Romania? I know bloggers had a huge part in my friend's, Angela Corbett, book (Eternal Starling) being published in Romania. Good job, Romanian bloggers! I've never heard of anything like that before or since. You guys are amazing!

Odată, Vrăjitoarea Muzicii, controla totul de la adieriile văntului până la schimbarea anotimpurilor- dar nu mai. Toate vrăjitoarele au dispărut, fiind ţinute captive de către un trădător. Toate în afară de Brusenna. Pe când ecoul cântecului lor începea să scadă, trădătorul devenea din ce în ce mai puternic. Acum ea vine după Brusenna. Gardianul ei a jurat să o apere, dar nici măcar el nu o poate opri pe Vrăjitoarea Întunecată. Cumva, Brusenna trebuie să reuşască ceva, ce nici o altă vrăjitoare nu a reuşit. Să găsească trădătorul. Să se lupte cu ea. Să o învingă. Pentru că, dacă Brusenna nu reuşeşte, nu va mai rămâne nimic de salvat.

1) Cum şi când ai început să scrii? A existat cineva sau ceva, care te-a impulsionat?

Întotdeauna mi-am dorit să devin scriitoare, dar teama de a da greş m-a împiedicat. Apoi a venit naşterea celui de-al doilea fiu al meu, care suferă de colici- care adesea plânge 16 ore pe zi ca nou-născut. Am început să scriu, ca să îmi pot păstra sănătatea mentală intactă din cauza stresului. Încă folosesc această formă de stres.

2) Spune-mi ceva despre următoarea ta carte Witch Born.

Witch Born este a doua carte, după Witch Song. Senna învaţă în curând că Haven nu este sanctuarul, care ar trebuii să fie. Pericolul rămâne închis înăuntru şi nimeni nu este sigur de sursa lui. Ea va trebui să rişte tot ce a reuşit să dobândească până acum, pentru a salva Vrăjitoarele din calea pericolului.

3) În cursul scrierii romanului, ţi-ai dat seama că te ataşezi mai mult de un anume personaj? Şi invers, ai descoperit că vreunul vă irită?

Joshen este adorabil. Mi-aş dori să fie real. Am petrece timp împreună, am merge la restaurante şi la echitaţie. Senna a fost câteodată o durere de cap. Ea este reticentă şi se luptă cu ea şi cu stima de sine- în special în prima carte. Este greu să lucrezi cu un asemenea caracter când acesta trebuie să pună povestea în mişcare. Cred că am creeat personajul ei, ca să-i pot da câteva din problemele, cu care se confruntă tinerele fete.

 4) Cum aţi făcut cercetarea pentru această poveste?

Da. Am avut de cercetat navele, tunurile, muschetele, junglele şi alte multe mici aspecte.

5) Există o carte, care v-a inspirat scrierile?

Îmi amintesc că am citit Eragon şi m-am gândit „ Dacă puştiul ăsta poate să scrie şi să publice o carte, atunci pot şi eu. “

6) În final, ai dori să le spui câteva cuvinte fanilor dumneavoastră din România?

Ştiu că bloggării din România au avut o mare legătură cu publicarea cărţii Angelei Corbett ( Eternal Starling ), în această ţară. Bună treabă bloggări din România! Niciodată nu am mai auzit de un asemenea lucru înainte. Voi chiar sunteţi uimitori!

  1) How and why have you started to write? Were there something or someone that gave you an impulse?

I’ve always loved to write. My first story won an award in the fourth grade and I’ve been hooked ever since. Most recently, I decided to pursue a career as an author after I lost my job in 2009 due to the economic downturn. I published the Daughters of Saraqael trilogy last July. Now I plan on writing as many books as I can!

2) Tell me something about you and your book Becoming.

Sure thing! I’m a full time wedding planner as well as an author. I’m also a wife and mother, so life around here is never dull. I make my home in Orlando, Florida, so I get to meet plenty of interesting people who travel here to visit the theme parks.

Becoming recently won an award for 2012 Best Sci-Fi or Fantasy Novel at the UtopYA conference. I published the Daughters of Saraqael trilogy (Becoming, Central and Foretold) almost one year ago. The trilogy follows sisters Amber, Olivia and Skye as they learn about their non-human halves…their Estilorian halves. The series is YA fantasy/romance, so you can expect some swoon-worthy male characters, as well!

3) While youre writing, have you discovered a character that you where developing feelings of love for? And was there a character that gave you headaches?

I’m a little in love with all of my main characters, if I’m telling the truth. Each of my male leads has at least one quality that I love in a guy. They’re attractive, strong, brave and endearing. I receive so much feedback from readers who each have a different favorite. My favorite character to write, though, is Zachariah. He’s the male protagonist from Defy. I love his personality!

4) How have you done your research for this novel?

My books are fantasy novels, so much of the content is created by me. However, I do a lot of research involving mythology. Because the Etilorians and their world are the basis of human myths and legends, I make sure to include plenty of unusual, fantastic elements.

5) Is there a book that inspired your writings?

There are many books that have inspired me. When I was younger, books by J.R.R. Tolkein, R.A. Salvatore, Madeline L’Engle and other authors like them were among my favorites. They continue to influence my writing, as do more contemporary authors.

6) In the end, would you like say some words to your fans from Romania?

You have a beautiful country with an amazing history. Thank you so much for your interest in my books. I would love to hear from you!

Odată la trei ani, Amber Hopkins explodează. Okay, nu o explozie ce te face ţăndări, dar oricum mereu doare ca în Iad, iar viaţa ei devine un dezastru. Ea deja a avut 4 familii, iar acum face tot ce îi stă în putinţă să evite mutarea la o a 6-a familie.

Cum aniversarea ei de 18 ani se apropie, aceasta începe să se simtă ciudat. În ea creşte o energie puternică şi aşa se iveşte dezastrul. Când inevitabila explozie are loc, în viaţa ei are loc cea mai mare schimbare de până acum. Acum nu învaţă doar despre sentimentele familiei ei adoptive şi ale prietenului ei cel mai bun Gabriel - ceea ce simt ei cu adevărat despre ea - dar descoperă că nu este singura, fără familie .

În primul rând va învăţa care este adevărul despre puterile ei: nu este cu adevărat om.

Amber trebuie să Devină, transferandu-se într-un alt plan de existenţă şi riscând să piardă cea mai importantă relaţie, pe care a avut-o vreodată. Alegerea ei va avea un impact pe viitor asupra întregii rase a unor vietăţi şi o va pune în faţa unui inamic ce va încerca să profite de îndoielile ei pentru a omorî.

Cu siguranţă! Sunt o planificatoare de nunţi cu normă întregă la fel cum sunt şi autoare. Sunt de asemenea şi soţie şi mamă, deci viaţa pe aici nu e niciodată plictisitoare. Îmi fac casa în Orlando, Florida, deci ajung să întâlnesc o mulţime de oameni interesanţi, care călătoresc pentru a vizita parcurile tematice.

Sunt puţin îndrăgostită de toate personajele mele principale, dacă vrei să fiu sinceră. Fiecare dintre personajele mele masculine, are cel puţin o calitate, pe care o iubesc la un tip. Sunt atractivi, puternici şi afectuoşi. Am primit atâtea mailuri de la autori, care au fiecare câte un alt favorit. Oricum, personajul meu favorit, pe care l-am scris a fost Zachariah. Este personajul masculin protagonist în Defy . Îi iubesc personalitatea!


4) Cum aţi făcut cercetarea pentru această carte?


Cărţile mele cuprind poveşti fantastice, deci foarte mult din conţinut este creat de mine. Totuşi, am făcut foarte multă cercetare privind mitologia. Pentru că Etilorii şi lumea lor este bazată pe legendele şi miturile noastre, m-am asigurat să includ cât se poate de mult neobişnuitul, elementele fantastice.

5) Este vreo carte, care vă inspiră?

Sunt foarte multe cărţi, care m-au inspirat. Când eram mai tânără, cărţile lui J.R.R.Tolkein, R.A. Salvatore, Madeline L’ Engle şi alţi autori la fel ca ei, care au fost printre favoriţii mei. Ei au continuat să-mi influenţeze munca, la fel de mult ca autorii contemporani.


6) În final, ai dori să le spui câteva cuvinte fanilor dumneavoastră din România?


Ai o ţară minunată cu o istorie extraordinară. Îţi mulţumesc foarte mult pentru interesul tău în legătură cu cărţile mele. Mi-ar plăcea să aud de voi!

Description of the book

1) Hello Jamie you can tell me something about you and your book Blood Born?

First, thank you so much for having me! Hmm, something about me, huh? Well, I’m a reader who loves to write, and a writer who loves to read! Ha!


BLOOD BORN is the first book in The Blood Prophecy trilogy, about a half human, half vampire girl who is fighting to save her humanity. There’s lots of blood and fighting and fun!

2) How and why have you started to write?

I knew from a long time ago that I wanted to be a writer—it just took me a few years to get there! Lol The normal trappings of life got in the way (you know, getting a job, paying bills, lol), and it wasn’t until I read TWILIGHT that I thought, "Okay Jamie, now’s the time to get off

3) Is there a book that inspired your writings?

Well, TWILIGHT inspired me to get started writing, but there are so many books that inspire me to write. The two most inspiring would have to be TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD by Harper Lee and FRANKENSTEIN by Mary Shelley. If I could have just a fraction of their talent, I’d be happy!

4) It was harder for you to work with the female character?

Excellent question! It was, actually, a little more difficult getting inside my character Ava’s head because she’s a girl instead of a guy; but ultimately we all feel the same things, just in different ways. And I’ve always been an emotional type person, so expressing Ava’s emotions throughout the book wasn't too difficult. :)

5) While youre writing, have you discovered a character that you where developing feelings of love for? And was there a character that gave you headaches?

I absolutely love all of my characters, but there’s a minor character in BLOOD BORN, Erik, that I must admit I feel stronger for than most of the others. He plays a much bigger role in the second book, BLOOD AWAKENING, and he’s suffered a lot of loss and pain and covers that with humor, which I tend to do myself! 

 As far as a character giving me a headache, I would have to say Chance, Ava’s love interest. In the second book, he’s much different than in BLOOD BORN, and I wanted him to be the same—so that was very frustrating and headache-inducing!

6) How have you done your research for this novel?

As far as the vampire aspect, I didn’t do much research—unless you count a lifetime of watching vampire movies and reading vampire novels, lol. I wanted to pull bits and pieces of the vampire mythology from several different areas and combine them into what I wanted my mythology to be (for example, the vampires in BLOOD BORN can go out in sunlight, but they also drink human blood).

I did do a bit of research for the setting, which is a small town in Massachusetts, about a half hour southwest of Boston. That aspect of it was actually fun, discovering some place I’ve never been! Most of the second book takes place in New York City, which I was fortunate enough to visit this summer, but I also did quite a bit of research on the location aspect. And the third and final book in the trilogy will have several scenes in a certain foreign country ;-) that I have never been to, so I already know I’ll be using Google a lot for that, too!

7) In the end, would you like say some words to your fans from Romania?

Să te trezeşti într-un sicriu flămând pentru sânge, este doar începutul pentru Ava Ble în vârstă de 16 ani. Când Chance Caldon, frumuşelul, care a ajutat-o să iasă îi spune că este pe jumătate vampir, lumea Avei se întoarce pe dos. Jumătate vampir? Ava nu poate să credaă aşa ceva…ea nici măcar nu ştie ce înseamnă asta! Până când Aldris, un vampir de o mie de ani, îi arată şi îi spune că totul este real-- şi că el este cel care a transformat-o. Abia atunci Ava începe cu adevărat să creadă ceea ce este. Acum, ea trebuie să se confrunte cu brusca şi puternica ei dorinţă de a-l vedea pe Aldric mort şi sentimentele pentru Chance, care sunt din ce în ce mai puternice. 1) Bună Jamie, ai putea să-mi spui ceva despre tine şi cartea ta Blood Born?

În primul rând mulţumesc foarte mult pentru că mi-ai luat acest interviu! Hmm, ceva despre mine huh? Ei bine, sunt un cititor căruia îi place să scrie şi un scriitor căruia îi place să citească! Ha!

BLOOD BORN este prima carte din trilogia The Blood Prophecy, despre o fată pe jumătate om pe jumătate vampire, care se luptă pentru a-şi salva umanitatea. Este foarte mult sânge, lupte şi distracţie!

2) Cum şi de ce ai început să scrii?

Ştiu de foarte multă vreme că vreau să devin scriitor -- doar că mi-au luat câţiva ani ca să ajung acolo! Lol.  Piediciile normale ale vieţii mi-au stat în cale (  şti tu, luându-mi un job, plătind facturi, lol ), şi asta a fost până când am citit TWILIGHT, apoi am gândit „ Okay Jamie, acum este timpul să-ţi mişti fundul leneş şi să te apuci de cartea aceea!”

3) Există o carte care te-a inspirat?

Ei bine, TWILIGHT m-a inspirat să încep să scriu, dar sunt atât de multe cărţi, care m-au inspirat să scriu. Două dintre cele care m-au inspirat cel mai mult ar fi TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD de Harper Lee şi FRANKENSTEIN de Maty Shelly. Dacă aş avea o fracţiune din talentul lor, aş fi fericit!

4) A fost greu să lucrezi cu un personaj de sex feminin?

O întrebare excelentă! Chiar a fost, de fapt, puţin mai dificil să intru în capul personajului Ava, pentru că este o fată în loc de băiat; dar până la urmă cu toţii avem aceleaşi sentimente, doar că diferit. Mereu am fost o persoană emotivă aşa că exprimarea sentimentelor Avei de-a lungul cărţii nu a fost dificilă. :)

5) În cursul scrierii romanului, ţi-ai dat seama că te ataşezi mai mult de un anume personaj? Şi invers, ai descoperit că vreunul vă irită?

Îmi iubesc toate personajele, dar este un personaj secundar în BLOOD BORN, faţă de care sentimentele mele sunt mai puternice faţă de celelalte şi anume Erik. El joacă un rol mai important în cea de-a doua carte, BLOOD AWAKENING, iar el a suferit foarte mult din cauza pierderilor suferite şi încearcă să acopere asta prin umor, ceea ce tind să fac şi eu!

Cât despre un personaj care să-mi dea dureri de cap, ar trebui să spun Chance, cel pe care Ava îl iubeşte. În cea de-a doua carte acesta este mult mai diferit decât în BLOOD BORN, iar eu am vrut ca el să fie la fel -- deci asta a fost foarte frustrant şi bătăile de cap au fost incluse!

6) Cum aţi făcut cercetarea pentru această poveste?

În afară de aspectul vampirilor, nu am făcut prea multă cercetare -- asta dacă numeri viaţa petrecută privind filme cu vampiri şi citind poveşti cu vampiri, lol.

Vroiam să i-au părţi şi muşcături ale vampirilor din mitologie, din diverse arii şi să le combin în ceea ce vroiam ca mitologia mea să fie ( de exemplu, vampirii din BLOOD BORN nu pot ieşi în lumina soarelui, dar ei beau de asemenea şi sânge uman ).

Am făcut o mică cercetare cu privire la locul, unde se desfăşoară acţiunea, care este un mic oraş în Massachusetts, cam la o oră şi jumătate sud-vest de Boston. Acest aspect a fost chiar distractiv, să descopăr un loc, în care nu am mai fost niciodată! În mare parte din cea de-a doua carte, acţiunea are loc în oraşul New York, pe care am fost suficient de norocos, să-l vizitez în această vară, dar am făcut şi o mică cercetare asupra aspectului, pe care-l are locaţia. Cea de-a treia carte şi ultima din această trilogie va avea mai multe scene, care vor avea loc în altă ţară ;-), în care nu am mai fost niciodată, deci deja ştiu că voi folosi Google foarte mult pentru asta!

7) În final, ai dori să le spui câteva cuvinte fanilor dumneavoastră din România?

Îţi mulţumesc foarte mult pentru că sunt aici pe blog cu voi astăzi şi pentru fanii pe care îi am în România, chiar sper că v-a plăcut să citiţi BLOOD BORN şi întreaga trilogie Blood Prophecy şi îşi mulţumesc foarte mult pentru susţinere!
